Duramax Equipped With a Allison Transmission Fast Learn Procedure   Initial Test Automatic 5 or 6 Speed Transmission  In general, Fast Learn is a procedure for Allison 1000 Series transmissions in which a series of tests are run to allow the transmission control module TCM to learn individual Clutch characteristics. Once the clutch data is learned, Fast Learn translates it to the adaptive data cells, which the TCM uses for clutch control during range shifts. Fast Learn is used at GM plants, and allows the vehicle to be driven out of the assembly plant in a near fully adapted state to minimize any customer shift concerns. Duramax Engine Oil Filter Replacement Procedure and Engine Oil Filter Service

GMC / Chevy Duramax Diesel Pickup 6.6L HD Truck  Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement Removal Procedure Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Position a suitable drain pan under the oil pan drain plug. Remove the oil drain plug  Allow the oil to drain completely. Clean and inspect the oil pan drain plug, replace if necessary. Clean and inspect the oil pan drain plug sealing surface, replace the oil pan if necessary. Wipe any remaining oil from the drain plug hole and re install the oil pan drain plug until snug. Position a suitable drain pan under the oil filter Remove the oil filter  Ensure that the oil filter gasket is still on the old oil filter, if not remove the oil filter gasket from the adapter. Duramax Diesel Fuel Filter Life Reset Filter Reset Instructions

Fuel Filter Life Reset This message will appear when a reset is performed either by using the steering wheel controls or following manual procedure. Reset the fuel filter monitor. For vehicles with steering wheel controls, press and hold the select button for 5 seconds while the FUEL FILTER LIFE message is displayed. This message will appear on the driver information center (DIC) for ten seconds. For vehicles without steering wheel controls, do the following: Without pressing the pedals, turn the ignition key to the ON position without starting the engine. Wait 5 seconds. Completely press the brake and the accelerator pedals simultaneously and hold for 10 seconds. The system is now reset. Turn the ignition key OFF. The next time the engine is started, the message will no longer be displayed. ALWAYS reset the FUEL FILTER LIFE system after a fuel filter change.                             ...

Instructions  of Removal and Installation for a Duramax Diesel Pickup Fuel Filter  Removal Procedure Drain the fuel from the fuel filter. Refer to Water-in-Fuel Draining.  Remove the right side wheel house liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side GMC Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side Chevy Disconnect the water-in-fuel sensor wiring pigtail (2) from the engine wiring harness electrical connector. Remove the fuel filter from the fuel filter adapter. Remove the water-in-fuel sensor from the fuel filter. Note: Inspect the fuel heater element housing for contamination. Contamination on the fuel heater element housing may cause leakage at the fuel filter.                                                 Indications of water in the ATF may include: 1 ATF  blowing out of the transmission vent tube. 2 ATF  may appear cloudy or, in cases of extreme contamination, have the appearance of a strawberry milkshake. 3  Visible water in the oil pan. 4 A milky white substance inside the pan area. 5 Spacer plate gaskets that appear to be glued to the valve body face or case. 6 Spacer plate gaskets that appear to be swollen or wrinkled in areas where they are not compressed. 6 Rust on internal transmission iron/steel components.
